BMW Welt and Museum in Munich, Germany

The first weeks after I arrived in Munich, my husband and I visited the BMW welt and Museum. It’s one of the most famous places to visit in the city. And although I already considered myself a resident and BMW Welt and museum are my neighbors, I still wanted to experience it.

Entrance to BMW Welt

Back then, there were no protocols or strict regulations. No face masks, no keeping distance whatsoever. In other words, there was no corona pandemic.

At the BMW Welt

Welt is a german word for world.

Upon entry, the display of collections of magnificent BMW cars welcomed us. I was left speechless by how modern and extravagant they were. BMW Welt most especially exhibited marvelous current model minis or mini cooper and Roll Royces.

Guests and visitors were endlessly taking photos here and there. Some just glazing still. Probably moved by the display of astounding autos. I also took lots of photos and slowly moved closer to each BMW cars.

Some displayed BMW cars were allowed to touch, feel, and even get yourself inside it. But no driving, though.

The first floor was a variety of cars and a BMW souvenir shop. And, on the second floor were motorcycles or also known as BMW Motorrad, and a cafe shop.

My favorite one was the mini cooper. I think it suits me well!

Visiting BMW Welt was free.

At the BMW Museum

The BMW Museum was not in the same building as the BMW Welt. We had to cross the bridge, which was just connected to each building. And, while BMW Welt was free of charge, BMW Museum was 10€ per person. It’s only free when you or your spouse works in the company.

At the BMW Museum were classic cars, motorcycles, aircraft engines and even some cool cars used by famous like James Bond in movies. Here, I’d learn wonderful things about supercars, F1, motors, engines, and other fascinating things about BMW and cars in general, which was super fantastic for me.

Moreover, In front of the cars and motorcycles were stories and historical explanations about how they were made, years, etc. Visiting BMW Museum also gave me a good insight into BMW’s story, and now I appreciate autos very much. Also, now I no wondered why BMW is over more than 100 years and counting.

What’s more interesting was that inside the BMW Museum was walking down the spiral building while my eyes were fixed on every finest car I passed.

The speed of the visit was all up to you. It took us around 3 hours in total. You can also book a guided tour here, or you can do it yourself like my husband, and I did.

Overall experience

Visiting the BMW Welt and BMW Museum was a fun experience for me. Although I wasn’t a big fond of autos before, I appreciated BMW Welt and Museum in giving me a fresh perspective about cars and motorcycles.

Fun fact: Did you know that even police cars in Munich are BMW? Cool, right?

If you’re visiting Munich, Germany, I highly recommend exploring the BMW Welt and BMW Museum. It’s not only a good price to enter the amazing world of BMW cars but also won’t disappoint you.

Unfortunately, BM Welt and BMW Museum will be closed until the 31st of January 2021 due to the ongoing lockdown in entire Germany.
